Ambassadors are people who help you. Sponsors are the professionals and businesses who provide services.
Retire.do has two separate programs. They can work well together, but they are never mixed.
Ambassadors are people
An Ambassador is a real person who lives in the Dominican Republic and helps newcomers from their home country. They take part because of their personal experience and to support the community.
- Always one person, never a company
- Shares a personal story and honest advice
- Shown with a round portrait and their own name
Sponsors are professionals and businesses
A Sponsor is a company or organization. Sponsors take part because they want to support the community and connect with people considering life in the Dominican Republic.
- Always a business or organization
- Always marked “Sponsor”
- Shown with a square company logo
Sponsor
Kept apart, on purpose
Sponsors never receive Ambassador votes and never appear in Ambassador rankings.
No one can buy votes, a ranking or an Ambassador position.
Paying for a sponsorship gives no say over who becomes an Ambassador.
When one person is both
A person can be an Ambassador and also own a business that is a Sponsor. John, for example, is Canadian, has lived here for eight years and owns a law office. His Ambassador profile is about John the person. His company has its own, separate Sponsor page.
When an Ambassador is connected to a Sponsor, we may say so openly on their profile, for example: “John is also affiliated with a Retire.do Sponsor.”
